How to compare two schools after a trial visit.

A simple checklist: coaching, culture, schedule fit, and how you felt walking out the door.

Coaching

Did the instructor notice you, correct you, and learn your name? Good coaching shows up in the small moments, not the trophies on the wall.

Culture

How did the students treat each other? Were advanced students helpful to beginners? Did it feel welcoming, or like a club you weren't part of?

Schedule fit

The best school is the one you'll actually attend. Check that class times work for your week, and that there are enough classes at your level.

Safety and cleanliness

Clean mats, clear rules for contact, and instructors watching the room. These are non-negotiable.

Price, in writing

Compare total monthly cost, contract length, and extra fees side by side. Cheaper isn't always better, but surprises are always worse.

How you felt walking out

Did you (or your child) want to come back? That gut feeling matters more than any checklist. Pick the school that made you excited for the next class.
